Mole Control Essex - Summer Months

During the summer months moles begin to dig much deeper for food. As the ground dries the worms and other food moves deeper underground, as expected the the moles follow. This does mean for many that the signs of moles being present reduces. However for those who water their gardens or who have irrigation systems the problems are about to begin.

Does watering my garden attract moles?

Yes, and very quickly. By watering your garden you cause the worms to move into shallower ground. Moles can detect the movement of their food and as a result they follow it. The outcome is inevitable, molehills in your gardens, flower beds and lawns. Whilst your garden is the dampest area near the moles, thats where they will travel to, rich with food and paradise for them.

The moles will go away if you stop watering, but that doesn't help your garden stay green and colorful. Unfortunately you cant have it both ways, if you water the moles will come, if you stop, your garden will suffer.

Today I attended the Level II Molecatcher course run by well known Molecatcher, Jeff Nichols. An excellent experience and a must for anyone starting out in mole control. I was pleased to learn a few new things and expand my knowledge of Moles.

I will now be positively supporting the Guild, and the excellent work they are doing to support fellow mole catchers. You too can become a member provided you abide by guild values, and whats more it free to join.

Tarka is on the Pot again

One of my dogs seems to be misbehaving and is on the pot again, with any luck there's a Mole in the pot that will come up and bite his ar**. Funny thing with dogs is they teach each other these bad habits, Willow is regularly on the pot, trouble is she digs too. Cant beat black muddy feet trampling through the kitchen. Willow is my Mole dog, put her in a field with a 100 traps and she will take you to each trap with a mole in, never any need to check the others, she is never wrong and never misses a catch!! Top dog!

How can I trample on these to catch the Moles, not in flower for many days trapping was put on hold. Shame this isn't my garden, looks incredible.

Mole Control in Oxford

Oxford, a fair trek for me. The moles were re-decorating the lawns, but not for long, they were stopped in there tracks, well tunnels more like.

Golf Course Mole Control

A day trapping Moles on the Golf Course, not without company of the resident Squirrel, and his banana skin. I was not more than 6 feet from this bushy tailed rat!

Squirrel control is essential for the protection of trees. A few weeks ago I was catching Moles in Kent and to one side of the lawns the wood had been devastated by Squirrels. Every other tree had been stripped of bark up the trunk and along the branches, their survival is questionable.

Time for a catch up.

Been so busy updating the blog has been on hold. The last few months has been hectic catching Moles and treating wasps, but now the wasp season has ended things are calming down.

Rats and Mice are venturing indoors now harvest is over to keep your eyes open and don't let them indoors. Now we have an R in the Month, work on Rabbit control has begun, its the best time to get the numbers down with good effect.

I have had some nice Mole jobs over the last few months, been to some stunning places;

This is the view from one of my windows, can you imagine waking to this in the morning. I measured this, and the vista is over 800 yds long. (I used a range finder not tape measure).
